I'm a rank newbie in regards to HDTV. I would like to get some suggestions and recommendations on setting up a simple, basic HDTV system for watching satellite, OTA broadcasts, and the occasional dvd but I can't figure out where to post my "plea fo help" post. Actually the system will be used for mostly watching news programs, television series, etc.,. I guess what I'm shooting for is a system that I can use as I would a regular television rather than a "home theater". There is a massive amount of information in the existing forums and I've been picking my way through a lot of it, but it's really overwhelming to me. Basically I need some kind of a HDTV "primer", I guess.

Maybe a "Basic HDTV help for Newbies" forum would be worthwhile?

Not a bad thought on an area like that, however it then just leads to cross posting and people just posting in the area for no other reason then to look for quick help.

As you mentioned the site is loaded with content. That content would then be duplicated in a section like that for, in your case, it deals with display type, programming, DVD, tuners, and even satellite. All areas that we have on the site and where you will find all kinds of opinions.

You already have more or less spelled it out on your needs, now just find what you would like to buy for it now comes down to the price you are willing to spend.

HDTV is a wonderful world, step into it.
