Will they be broadcating this upcoming speech in HD?
If so, it's a great opportunity to compare PQ of your local providers. Since the source is the same using pool cameras, you can easily do a/b comparisons of the end result.
I did this a year or 2 ago and was able to tell subtle yet distinct differences in the picture quality of my local affiliates.

Last year NBC ABC and CBS were in HD, Fox was in "Fox Widescreen".
At least the picture will be clear.

I'm gonna vote for Jennifer Hudson, she has the sass to be an ....... um president. :)
As this is going to be a HD pool feed, I think 1080i would be the best format. It's better for situations where not much is changing.
