My old HDTV is a CRT, and was of course vulnerable to magnetism effects (rainbow color distortions that could become permanent) from unshielded speakers so i always was careful about keeping my unshielded speakers away from it.

Does the same apply for DLP tv's or no ...?

It's not a factor.
