just looked at the Weinstein website and noticed that there is an MGM logo on there, do they own MGM? (don't know anything about the company) if so what has happened to all the MGM movies that could be released on HD-DVD have the good titles been pillaged by the previous owners so weinstein just own the name and maybe some B grade movie back catalogue?

Weinstein doesn't own MGM. MGM distributes Weinstein films theatrically, while Weinstein uses Genius to release their DVDs.

thanks for clearing that up, while we are on the subject any news on hd dvd versions of hoodwinked and school for scoundrels and does this mean that hannibal rising stands a chance of arriving on the format too?

School for scoundrels has been rumored for a March release. No word yet on Hoodwinked and Hannibal Rising.
