when i connect the PS3 up to my westinghouse 32w6, the hdmi picture is fine, but audio has lots of static.

I acutally figured out a work around that works every time:
1. start up PS3
2. Start game
3. turn off tv
4. unplug tv for a bit, then plug back in, turn back on. audio now works fine.

changing games, going out of a game to the console, etc. all require the TV to be turned off and unplugged again. obviously, this is not an accepable solution.

anyone else had HDMI static autio problems?

I think there should be an firmware update for westinghouse TV's, I am not sure if it solves this though.

Did you check how is PS3 outputing audio through HDMI?

right now it is just set on the two default (required?) settings, 2ch linear 41 and 48hz or whatever it is. i've tried adding some others (dolby 5.1, pcm 5.1, etc) with no changes.

i was wondering about the output also, but not sure which ones i should add, and why i can't remove the two default ones. i checked the TVs userguide, no info on which audio input modes it supports.
