it seems i cant get audio from my TV and surround system at the same time..
ps3 is connected to tv via hdmi (it carries video n audio right?) and optical audio to the reciever. Surround system works great. but TV is mute.
ive also tried connecting the multi AV cable to the TV (rca white n red cables) with no luck.
is there a way i can get this to work?

(my 360 works perfect on both)
thanks in advance

From what I can tell, you can select HDMI or Optical for audio out, but not both.

If you're using your receiver for surround sound, why do you need to use the TV's built-in speakers anyway?

Agreed. If you really need sound out of your TV...then you'll have to run something from maybe the TAPE-OUT on your receiver to the Audio in on your TV.

I had the same question but came to the conclusion that you can only select one.

I like the Optical to my receiver because I'm into the home theater stuff, but the kids, wife and mom could care less. So there are times I need to tone it down a bit and switch to HDMI for the tv audio.

No biggy, just gotta understand how things work.
