Topic for discussion:

All studios have Oscar-worthy movies that they haven't even announced on HD DVD or BD:

- Disney hasn't announced The Queen
- Fox hasn't announced Borat, The Last King of Scotland or Little Miss Sunshine
- Universal hasn't announced United 93 or The Black Dahlia
- Warner hasn't announced Letters from Iwo Jima or Pan's Labyrinth
- Sony hasn't announced Volver or The Pursuit of Happyness
- New Line hasn't announced Little Children

For shame!

Oh boy, that's going to leave the HD DVD faithful NOT seeing red. :)

I wonder if Fox will release Little Miss Sunshine on BD now?

Well they should. The SD DVD is an EE-ridden, two-sided mess.

Thanks for the nice work Grubert, you have way too much free time on your hands :)

But to be honest, if I based all of my movie viewing on Oscar nominees I would be missing some great shows and seeing a lot of crap. But maybe that is just me, opinions are like... well, you know...

I don't know; they're trying to heavily target the gamer demographic, and LMS doesn't fit that at all. Then again, they did release The Devil Wears Prada, so it's a possibility.

As time goes on and more people get players, they should be more willing to release a wider variety of titles. I am hoping these nominated films will be day and date, but I won't be at all surprised if some of them don't make it.

Ya but you see,If you ask a fan of HD DVD,they will say that HD DVD will win this war since they use the VC-1 code mainly and thier basic players are cheaper,so therefore Blu-Ray doesn't have a chance.

The Fox titles are clearly skewed toward action titles. But, they are coming out with Tristan & Isolde and Butch Cassidy so there is some indication Fox will drop a few. And the Oscars give LMS a lot of free publicity.

I just had an interesting question pop into my mind: What year does the first movie on HD disc get sent out to Academy members for consideration?

The pre and post Oscar buzz should really drive the sales of these movies ... Glad to see that almost all of the major award nominees will be available in Blu-Ray.
