I got two 16 gauge wires that seperately aren't long enough for my right rear speakers but combind they would be. Can I twist the ends together to make 1 long one or is that a bad idea?

You can solder the joints together and then put heat shrink over the joints. trekguy 01-23-07, 09:19 PM if you don't have an iron, crimp butt splice connectors or wire nut style connectors will work. Make sure that the copper ends are bright before crimping or twisting. http://www.aboveboardelectronics.com/panduit/termination/images/wire-nut.jpg http://www.kenselectronics.com/picturef/butt1.jpg hdtvpros 01-23-07, 09:23 PM Put some chewing gum.j/k or even electrical tape will be fine. Howie411 01-24-07, 09:54 AM used some electrical tape after twisting them. Will prob. order some new speaker wire soon, but I didn't want to have 1 rear speaker using 1 type of wire and the 4 others using a different. |
