I am trying to find my Dad the best bang for the buck CPU (have monitor) for arond $600. This is just an all purpose computer, NOT for HTPC.

Just thought I would throw this out in case somebody knows of a smoking deal on a CPU for around $600.

I know this is a bit off topic and I appologize, but if you guys happen to know of a great deal right now let me know.

CPU= Central Processing Unit. What you want is a PC.

Rather than getting an overpriced Dell or other brand you could put together your own PC from individual components. It is not very difficult to do.
I have specced out a PC for you in parts and a great bang for your buck PC for common tasks came out to $360.51
You can see the parts and where to get them in my spreadsheet that I have attached. (You will need to pick out your own mouse and keyboard if you don't already have them for this PC)
