Anyone ever heard of this company? Could it be the monoprice of glass based toslink cables??

http://www.uniqueproductsonline.com/gltodiopca.html 6 feet for $20 isn't bad at all compared with 100+ for WireWorld glass cables.

Anyone else have any good sugestions with glass based toslink? Yea I know some people are coax only but you have to admit optical is more "fun" :-)

Yes, Impact Acoustics makes the "SonicWave" quartz-glass Toslink. I use it on my $1600 digital front end.

More fun? As Woody said "It's not a laser. It's just a little lightbulb that blinks". :p

Anyway I have found that the "Should I use coax or optical?" question is always answerd for me by the equipment manufactuerer.

Only peice of equipment I have that has both is my cable box, the rest have one or the other.

I personally don't think anyone is going to be able to tell the difference based on sound quality.
I have heard that Coax is generally better suited for very long runs and the RCA connectors make a good connection. They may be more prone to emi/rfi because after all it is a wire, but are usually well-shielded and it's not a problem.

The Toslink connectors on optical cables are more fragile and sometimes easy to pull out of the socket. They are not susceptible to rmi/efi and that is why they are often cited as better than coax.

I found a more neutral presentation via Toslink vs AES/EBU or coax RCA. Tried and tested all 3 for months and finally settled on glass Toslink.

FWIW, I run a C.E.C. CD-3300 transport and a Benchmark DAC1 DAC for redbook CD playback.

I can’t tell the difference between the affordable fibre optical cable that I have been using for my Pioneer laserdisc player now for 8 years, it’s mostly used for outputting the PCM dts signal to the dts decoder. :)

Where with the DVD players I use cheap and affordable phone cable for coaxial output fantastic!!!!! :)
