Hi there

I am an lucky owner of a barco 708 data.
Have it abaut a year now. And my tubes are wearing out.

So I can buy a 701 with T180DGB22 tubes for a few €
With 9 9 9 tubes.

A forum member on htforum told me that i can replace these tubes for my p16 tubes.

and @ curt i read:

The early 708'd used T180 Toshiba tubes that are $295 each from VDC. your P16's are later tubes that are sharper (still ES focusing) but more expensive at $495 or so. according to Charlie at VDC, you can put P16's into an older set, but you cannot put the older tubes into a newer set. Something about the tubes running hotter and they'll die in a short period of time.

So i dont know it annymore

Someone a awnser to this ?

i have the unit home already. And the tubes are realy 999 it has only 400 h on its chasis :)

I think it will work .the only thing is that you must have the overheat protection
circuit in your Pj.Some 708 have it some not .it is a small board on the motherboard
with 3 brown cables going to the tubes with a temperature sensor on the end.

I Have those sensors on my 708. So it has to work ?

But why are those t180 tubes running hotter than those p16's

hello

I don't think the run hotter because the neckboards from the 701s and the 708
are the same, The Cine 7 boards are different The p16 tubes are T180
Toshiba tubes with a Panasonic gun and hold there focus for a longer time.

I have take a look to the neck boards but they are different. the 708 has almost only smd and the 701 almost non. And the numbers on the big black transistor? are different.

i don't hope i blow my tubes 2 the moon :)

Don't t180's and p16's have different neck board pin outs?
I have a parts 708s with burned p16 tubes if you need the newer neckboards to do the swap btw.

You better make sure about swapping them because all I have ever heard before is no, you can't swap either way. (though it may just be because of a different pin placement in the neckboard which is an easy fix.)

I Think the pinout is the same. older models can be retubed with the new p16
Only i can't understand why not the other way round.

I found this link at cineversum. There they say even a cine 7 has the t180 tubes :)

Fuzzylogic huh

Hello
The 701 comes with Sony 07MS tubes the 701s with the Toshiba tubes.
701 and 701s have different neckboars. When you have a 701 with T180 someone
have upgrade the Pj.

hmmmmm ???

There are 2 different types of neckboard in the vision 701 cine.
2 original with pt. no r9000721
and 1 from a data 701s pt no. r9000715
they look the same only one difference that is that big black thing. Fet ? transistor ? amp?
original has a vph03 and the 701s has a vpj05

Than those boards in my data 708 pt. no. r9002120 and a vpj06 on it.

I thought mabe i can use the boards from the 701 ???
