View Full Version : What does screen wall attach to?

Per suggestions on this forum, I intend to build my stage and screen wall after the room is drywalled (ceiling and all walls double 5/8 + RSIC/ISOMAX.

If I attach the screenwall to more than one of the sidewalls and/or screen it would seems to cause an acoustic short circuit through the screen wall framing itself between the surfaces it is attached to.

The same can be said of transmission from the stage (which it will have to be attached to) to anything else it is attached to (sidewalls or ceiling).

The only thing I could think of was to essentially make the screen wall freestanding on the stage. Use acoustic caulk where it meets the sidewalls and ceiling.

Am I worrying too much in that the isolation of the walls/ceiling themselves will solve this problem and I can attach the screen wall to any/all of these so long as the screws do not penetrate past the metal furring channel attached to the isolation clips. I'd still cause a short circuit between walls but the effect may be minimal.

Thoughts?
