OK..I have a Samsumg HLP6163W, I want to record game play from this TV. Using the card from my computer, but I need to have Video out from the TV to the capture card. I've tried using the Video out on the back of the TV no signal there. What is the purpose of that Video out then? Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks.

That Video out on the TV is probably only a Composite connection and will only work when you are using Composite inputs . So if you connect the 360 using Composite (yellow) video then you should be able to use the pass through Video out into your capture card on the PC (just don't expect great quality) .

DGP,

Any suggestion on getting a better recording quality? Currently the I use component cables to the TV for the HiDef picture. But when recording the quality is not that great, cause I used the Yellow cable to my card input. Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks.

micron_walker,

you'll have to purchase a component video capture device in order to get better quality. unfortunately, those cost quite the pretty penny at this point in time. most affordable video capture devices only take in composite analog signals (the traditional yellow, red, and white cable). because of this, you can only record 480i signals.

unless you want to shell out a lot of dough for a device that can capture actual hd signals (720p and above), you'll have to make do with what you currently have.

i have the adaptec gamebridge 1410, and it works really well with my xbox 360. the only downside is that i have to switch it to 'TV' output when i'm playing. i wish that the cable could output through both component and composite cables at the same time. that way i could play in HD while recording in SD at the same time. stupid M$.

i'm patiently awaiting an affordable external video capture device that can take in HD signals. until that day, i'll be using the gamebridge.

What amount is considered pricey? I'd like to know how much those component capture cards cost. I'm assuming they're in the thousand dollar range.

What about Camcorder + tripod?

eh, the term "pricey" is of course relative to the consumer making the purchase. most of the devices that are on the market to the average consumer start at around $150. $150 is "pricey" to me. heck, my gamebridge 1410 cost me only $20!

google "component video capture" and you'll get various websites showing what products that carry. i've seen it range from $150 to $1500. here's an example:

I've been trying to find review for the ADS Pyro AV Link API557 but have been unsuccessful. on paper, it looks like that would work well, but i dunno...

guess i could search these forums for some answers. i advise the rest of you to do the same. we'll meet back here and share our search results.

Do cards nowday record without lag? I just know on my tuner card, when recording, it's like TiVo, Replay, etc. where you have a half second delay because it's writing to the harddrive as it receives it.

Thanks for the reply, that's what I thought...it'll have to do with the 480i. :-)
Regarding your delima, playing in HD and recording with composite. Here's my current setup: The standard xbox 360 component lines going to the back of the tv, Xbox switch is on as HDTV. Now I take the Yellow left over composite line and hook it to a female/male rca cable. That way I have a male out, to plug into my usb capture device($30). This way I can play in HD and record in composite, no sounds ofcourse but the video will transmit.

That Avid Liquid Pro looks great. I'd given up looking for component capture since it seemed that nobody wanted to get sued for enabling HD piracy from cable boxes. Must be the end of component output is coming soon... :)

So it looks like at least $600 for component to firewire option. That is pricey then. My question is that can I hook up the 360 to the capture card, have it output the stuff via firewire and output component back to the tv so I can watch what I'm recording while I'm recording it.
