View Full Version : Static-filled noise floor in 3910?

Please help! If I play an SACD in my 3910 when my Denon AVR-4306 receiver is incorrectly set to play DVD-A (that is the 4306 is set to multi-channel instead of 2 channel) will this result in a static-filled noise floor in my front l&r speakers, very noticable when I pause the disc and turn the receiver way up?

I'm using the 5.1 analog connections for SACD.

Also: When I pause a disc and turn the volume way up I hear a high-pitched tone in my surrounds. Any idea what this could be?

Thanks, I'm a nervous new 3910 owner!

I'm sorry for the multi-postings. I meant the 3910 was incorrectly set to multi-channel instead of 2-channel.

Look at my answer in the 3910 thread.

It seems I have discovered a way to make static come out of my front left and right speakers using the 5.1 analog connections (new Bluejeans cables) between a Denon 3910 and a 4306. Anyone wishing to make this noise (it's fun!) should do the following:

1. Place an SACD in 3910 tray and close. Allow to load.

2. Have the 3910 incorrectly set to "Multi-Channel" instead of "2-Channel."

3. Being careful not to play the disk, turn the volume on your 4306 WAY up and voila! You will hear static coming out of your left and right fronts speakers.

The advance tech at Denon says he's never heard of this. Anyone willing to duplicate this experiment and prove that I'm not hearing things?

Im calling Denon Monday to run my set up by them.

No offense, but what is the point?
....or is there static/noise in normal playback?

Just trying to see if my unit has a problem.

Problem solved (see last page of "Denon 3910" thread in DVD Players (Standard Definition).
