Im using the VGA cable on my Samsung HL-S5687 1080p DLP. Ive selected 1080p on the dashboard and hitting the "info" button on my TV confirms that it is indeed receiving 1920x1080 @ 60hz. Ive enabled GAME MODE on my TV since it should be better (correct me if im wrong). I used p.size on the remote to zoom in the picture enough to fill the entire screen.

The screenshots on this forum all seem to look perfect. All the lines are smooth and razor sharp. When I play PGR3, theres alot of jaggies on the lines of the cars, it looks like white sparkes all around the lines of the car (suppose to be reflections). When you look down the road when your racing, the fences and building have major jaggies. When I walk around the car garage, the back portion of the cars (looking from the front perspective) have jagged lines.

AM I doing something wrong? Did I over look a setting?

Don't use any Zoom , if the display is 1080p native and you are sending 1080p then it should pixel map 1:1 (and fill the entire screen) . If the set does not pixel map 1:1 with 1920x1080p then that is a fault of the set itself and some sets simply do not pixel map ( it might be that the set does not map over VGA but it will with HDMI/DVI ) .

a DLP isnt 1920x1080 the DLP chip is more like 1440x1080 or 1080x1080 in some cases and even 1024x1024

it makes 1920x1080by a interplation it bacasally will just turn those little mirrors on the chip and make it go to the end of the screen but it wont look streached because it isnt it is really therebut not all at the same time kinda like interlaced video is

this is the main reason why I will wait for the real 1920x1080 DLP chips now this looks great most of the time

I cant believe TV makers are calling it a Full HD 1080p when it isnt really Full if there isnt 2073600 little tiny mirrors in a 16x9 pattern what will they call this Truly Full HD?

the reason why this doesent look like crap is because there isnt a set amount of pixels so the mirror on the chip can move so fast to draw the "pixel" and then move and draw another one you done see it just like you dont see the interlaced video being even then odd lines on and never both at the same time it happens so fast you cant see it but it makes the picture quality suffer just like 1080p looks better than 1080i but it is sorta the same thing

I don't know anyone with a Samsung HLS Series that turns Game Mode ON. That will cause problems. The HLS Series don't have Game Lag and it has been even tested by IGN and others will say so in the owners thread. Use the p-size button fill the screen and turn game mode off. Calibrate your display and enjoy.

BTW I have a HLS so i'm speaking from experience.

I own the hls 6187 and have the 360 connected through VGA. I used the psize to fill the screen, and I also have game mode turned on (which isn't needed). Everything looks perfect, so I don't think your problem is using psize or the game mode. There must be something else wrong if the jaggies are as bad as you say.

1920x1080 DLP chips exist and are in use in front projectors. The chips used in RPTVs right now are 960x1080, where each mirror on the chip addresses two displayed pixels. There is no interpolation going on. 1920x1080 pixels really are displayed 60 times per second. There is some loss of resolution, although it really won't matter at normal viewing distances, as the loss of resolution due to one's eyesight is generally far worse.

PGR3 is rendered at < 720p. I think its ~ 600. Maybe try another game?

I dont use game mode either. I think the colors look like crap when you turn game mode on.

I have a HLS6187
