This morning I searched for 'blu-ray' under DVD at Amazon.com, as many of you already know the first three items returned are Chronos, Miami Vice, and The Last Samurai. (all hd-dvd)

So I did some other searches to see how widespread this 'bug' went. I searched for the following in DVD:

HD-DVD
HD DVD
High Def
High Definition

None of these searches returned any blu-ray titles. Even though blu-ray dvds are high definition dvds and HD DVDs are not blu-ray dvds.

So I asked them why

When I search for blu-ray under DVD the first three items returned are hd-dvd movies.

Is your search engine broken or are you trying to confuse your customers?

I will post here when/if I get a response from them.

Try "[Blu-Ray]", quotes included, as the query. It works for me every time.

[Blu-ray] (no quotes) seems to work, but you must be able to see that this is a problem from a consumer viewpoint (which we all are btw).

yup..when searching, the only way I get the Blu-Ray result is by putting [blu-ray]. Get's a little annoying and can be problematic for those consumers who don't know the proper search.

Whereas, you mentioned earlier, HD DVD will return the desired results!

I usually just search for the title of the film I'm looking for, then just look for the Blu-ray version amongst the results. I do it that way for all sites, actually. Hopefully they'll get off their collective rears and actually make dedicated sections for the HD formats.

They have hd dvd and blu-ray 'stores'.

HD DVD Store (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/16297241/sr=53-1/sr=53-1/qid=1170040543/ref=tr_277271/105-4091911-8386838)

Not exactly easy to find, I would be a lot less bothered if it was a problem finding either, but the fact that it is harder to find blu-ray than hd dvd is interesting.

not as bad as blockbuster where the onyl way to find they actually do have nice listings of HD DVD and Blu-Ray discs is to find the 'secret' pages through google search. searching on blockbuster doesn't seem to find either term. on blockbuster though clicking on the HD DVD table often adds SD DVD the first time instead, blu-ray always gets added first time.
