I have a 42" Sammy DLP with Optical out. Can I just plug all my video/audio inputs into it and run the Optical out to my receiver? It would prevent me from buying a bunch of cables :o

You'll then have to switch inputs on the TV rather than on the receiver. There may be a chance that some of your audio won't run through the optical but would rather need the right/left analog lines. Slim, but maybe. DJ-phYre 01-26-07, 02:47 PM Yes, probably you can. You'll then have to switch inputs on the TV rather than on the receiver. Cool... only thing I might have problems with is with the Cable. It is a college apt. and the cable is provided for us. Not digital... so it might not have the right signal or something. I really don't know. I will buy a optical cable and a set of rcas just to be safe... tokerblue 01-26-07, 08:09 PM http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=782765 - You can, but you most likely won't get Dolby Digital from any of the inputs. |
