I have a doorway that is not being utilised where my HT is, they are french doors and allow quiet a bit of ambient sound through. Being a rental property I cannot do any construction however the landlord has given me permission to use any adherable product on the onus that when removed I throw a new lick of paint over the surface if it is removed.

I am trying to get out of this cheap so I was considering using the same material used in car sound deading. Here (http://cgi.*********.au/High-Quality-SoundProof-Mat-10ft-x-4ft-4-dr-car_W0QQitemZ170071859157QQihZ007QQcategoryZ102568QQssPageNa meZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) (edit: link blocked as it is an ebay link, but the product is just your typical adherable sound deadening mat) is what I was considering using. Will this do anything for me?, or is there another option I should consider, any advice greatly appreciated.

And guys I know this is far from an ideal solution, but just trying to improve on what it already is.

I used Pemko S88 (http://www.sweets.construction.com/mfg/760/P38382.htm) around the door frame (self adhesive) and a Pemko P209 Door Bottom (http://www.co-opsupply.com/item.html?itemid=117616755) underneath, combined with a solid core door, and am very happy. You might be able to use a similar solution, maybe S88 on each door where they meet in the middle. All these products are acoustically rated. You can do an advanced search at Pemko's (http://www.pemko.com) website for other acoustically rated solutions.
