Well... Seeing as the Washington, DC / Baltimore post has been severed into many other posts, I may as well create one for Cox Northern Virginia, seeing as they apparently have some 250,000 subscribers, I feel I can justify having its own topic.

As it stands on 1/27/2007, the current channel lineup is as follows:

701 HBOHD
702 ShowtimeHD
703 DiscoveryHD
704 NBCHD
705 FOXHD
706 WBHD
707 ABCHD
708 ESPNHD
709 CBSHD
710 INHD
712 UHD
713 StarzHD
714 TNTHD
715 MHD
716 ESPN2HD
726 PBSHD

Keep this post going with your discussion, comments, and rumors regarding Cox (Nova and elsewhere if you wish).

My SA 8300HD has been upgraded to SARA 1.89.18.1.

I'm guessing this was for DST... but I see the FF-4 (>>>>)... and I'm guessing this also fixes the boot-out when you start watching a dvr program in progress?

It seems as though Cox, in the act of being "stealthy", has lowered the price of their HD service by $4.00.

http://www.cox.com/fairfax/cable/rates.asp

A high-definition receiver is now only $5.90/month, down from about $10.

The DVR service is still $9.99, and you still need to pay for the "Digital Gateway" which is another $6.95...

So in other words, if you want HD/DVR, it is $23 extra... a regular HD box is just $13 extra

there was also a part time HD channel this past football season when the nfl network would broadcast a game. the weird part was the channel only showed up in the guide when the pregame started and then would disappear shortly after the post game completed. too bad i forgot the actual channel number.

Bump for lack of attention. I have noticed channel 751 is MRDVR but I cannot find any more info on this. I also went to pick up a HDDVR and got the SA 8240... had to trade it in two days later because they couldn't figure out how to make all my channels work so i went and traded it and got an 8300 hd. The only difference I noticed was the cable card in the back of the 8240. Does anyone have more info on the different cable boxes I can get?

Cox is testing their switched digital video on channels 850-869. Speaking to the cox rep at work my roommate got the impression multi-room dvr features would be rolling out soon but had no idea about HD channels..

Cox is adding three new HD channels this month. The Weather Channel, The Travel Channel, and Cinemax HD.

wow, i'm so glad someone split out Cox from the other stuff! didn't even know that this existed! I have a question of Clear QAM, i just got a Hauppauge 1600, and using the included WinTV 6 software i can get some HD channels over cable. I get CW, Weta, CBS, FOX but i'm missing MPT, NBC and ABC. Has anyone in Fairfax been successful using this card? What about getting these channels with a QAM tuner in your TV?

It'd be more useful if you used the same card, becase it's not reading the PSIP info so i have to manually figure out what channel is NBC, ABC etc. But i would also like to hear from folks that can confirm NBC & ABC are in the clear too.

I don't really have much to add here other than I wish there was more info. On my tuner I get nbchd on 4.1 and abchd on 7.1. So I get on the networks and pbs's, but no espnhd's or other hd over qam. I was actually looking around for info on ch. 751, the multiroom dvr. Any idea when that will become live?

Has anyone heard about the availability of the multiroom DVR yet?

C'mon, what petition do I have to sign to get HDNET on Cox Cable in Fairfax? I understand OC Cox has it already! Doesn't Fairfax County deserve the same:mad:

Hi, I'm new to the area. Is this an active forum?

I'm watching the Thursday night football game tonight on NFL network HD. Does COX not carry NFL HD in 5.1 audio? I used to have D* where it was 5.1.
