Hello,

I have had a nightmare of a week getting Directv installed and now finally its up and running and now HD locals! I was told by a salesperson that I didn't need an OTA antenna because locals were available in my area, but that was not true. I was told I must go out and purchase my own antenna and they will come install it on Monday. I need help. I have no clue what antenna to get to go with my 5 Lnb dish. Any suggestions?

directv used to offer for $50 an ota antenna and install.

check atennaweb.org to see what you might need for your location. if you need a uhf only or maybe a vhf/uhf combo antenna. and distance from towers and topography effect your ota reception also.

go to a lowe's, home depot, radio shack to see what antenna they have to meet your needs. or try warrenelectronics or starkelectronics online.

If you provide your zip code, we can look up the digital stations in your area and make some useful recommendations. For starters, how far are you from the broadcast towers? 10 miles? 20 miles? 50 miles? Are they all in the same direction or are they scattered around in azimuth? Are all the stations digitally broadcasting on UHF or are some on VHF? These are the basic questions that have to be answered before anyone can make an antenna recommendation.
