I had previously connected my Comcast HD DVR to my Optoma HD72 projector via an HDMI cable purchased from Monoprice. Recently I ran into problems with the cable box and the tech ended up swapping it out for a newer model. He said that the new model only has DVI connectivity. Sure enough, the digital video output is much smaller in size. I ordered a DVI cable from Monoprice, which arrrived yesterday. Much to my surprise, the cable connection looks identical to HDMI. It won't fit the back of my cable box? Did I order the wrong thing? The receipt says 35' DVI cable, and the picture on the website looks just like my cable. The connection on the box is way too small.

Jeff, I think you are confused. The HDMI connector is smaller that the DVI connector. If the set top is a newer model than it has to be an HDMI connector by definition.

If you look at the back apron of the set top it should say what the connection is.

Dammit... you're right. Thanks for the explanation. I will have to return the one I just purchased.
