I have been thinking of buying a used AE700. But i have read a lot about people who have complained about the lamp going dim and dying after 500 hours. Anyone have any experience with this?

I don't know if i should buy a used AE700 or a new HD70. The AE700 is a bit cheaper and very easy to put everywhere, where the HD70 is harder

I bought mine new when it first came out and have had no problems. Still on original bulb with about 850 hrs, only use it to watch dvds and hd tv for special shows, not regular tv so hours comparatively low. Clean filter every 100 hrs or so, run lamp on low mode. Kept in a fairly cool environment, but live at very high altitude, but so far no complaints, will upgrade only when the dust settles on hd format wars for dvd playback. 720p on high definition tv is excellent also because that is the native format of the dish network's output for high def tv.
