I'm new to HD just got an HDTV recently. While I have to wait until the end of May for DTV to install new dish and HR20 HDDVR I figured I might as well try an OTA antenna. Would appreciate advice on which antenna I should go with. I would prefer to put the antenna in the attic. Here is the channel lineup from AntennaWeb. I would appreciate any helpful advice. Thanks in advance.

well it depends, do you want to get Connecticut and New York stations or just one of the two?

Are you interested in getting only the digital stations or do you want to still be able to get the analog stations as well? Your zip code would be useful so we can look up the digital stations more directly. Your list is rather hard to sort for the digital stations, but looking at the call letters, these must be the NYC stations.

ZIP Code is 11704. I'm just interested in HD stations.
Thanks,

You are around 33 miles from the broadcast stations in NYC. All of them are currently digitally broadcasting on UHF. Several stations will be switching their digital broadcast to upper VHF channels on their current analog channels after the analog shutdown in 2009. So you need an antenna which can receive UHF and upper VHF 7 to 13.

At 33 miles, there are many medium to long range antennas that will do the job. A Channel Master 4228 8 Bay is one option, provided you have enough space in the attic. For the UHF stations, a CM 4221 4 Bay should do the job. Or any number of more conventional medium range VHF/UHF antennas.
