Did anyone pick this up yet, there are no impression yet that I can find?

There are a few in the PQ tier Thread. Overall I thought it was pretty good PQ. The few daytime scenes were awesome. However most of the movie is set at night, however the PQ is still quite good considering how dark it is. In terms of PQ, I rated it High Tier 2.

THe audio is absolutely top notch. I would almost venture to say it might have no rivals. I only say that because most of the movies with DTS-HD we are only getting the core portion of it, so it is hard to say how well they would sound at full bit rate.

If you loved this movie, it is a definite buy IMO. I love Resident Evil games and love Zombie movies.

I love Resident Evil and I love zombie movies and I hate this movie.

They ruined what Resident Evil is by making Milla's character like a super hero.

It likes putting Superman into an episode of 24. :rolleyes:

Apocalypse is a great zombie flick...I will most likely pick this up down the road. :cool:

It looked pretty damn good for a movie that takes place 95% at night. The PCM track isn't too shabby on this one either :)

Alice is not quite a superhero, but in terms of a natural continuation, it sort of makes sense. I quite enjoy the idea of two strong women kicking zombies around.

PQ wise, I agree the darkness of the movie makes it difficult to bring out any real sharp detail the same way enough lighting can.

Oh and let's not forget the whole fight at the end with Alice and Nemesis.

I think at some point the director forgot he was doing a movie based on the game Resident Evil and not Mortal Kombat.

I half expected to see Shang Tsung glaring into the camera screaming "Flawless Victory!" at the end of that whole bout.

God that's like putting Chackie Chan and Jet Li (or worse: Steven Seagal) into the original Night of the Living Dead and having them fight off the hordes of the undead. Yeah that makes sense, really fits the subject matter eh? http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/images/smilies/banghead.gif

While the director did go over the top with 2nd one, I still liked it regardless. Hopefully the 3rd one retuns more towards what the 1st one was like.

Lame or not, the movies of zombies walking around attacking people has been done so many times, that perhaps kungfu vs zombies is worth trying. At the end of the 1st, since umbrella already captured the two, what happens next is still a logical continuation.

The whole premise of rising from the dead is already illogical, as is the question of how umbrella scientists can be stupid enough to open the vault without bringing in heavy tanks after they captured enough footage to know what happened.

But movies like this can't have too much thinking. It never pretends to be more than escapism. It falls into one of those guilty pleasures that really doesn't require explanation.

I kinda liked the movie myself, but I am a milla fan ever since T5E, so I watch pretty much all her movies, even UltraViolet, which you have to admit was not as good as this one and even less logical.

I watched the movie last night and thought it was definitely an upgrade from the SD version of the film both PQ and AQ wise.

just finished watching it and my opinion is the same. PQ could have been a little better. Its not a noticeable improvement from SD DVD. AQ is quiet good though.

Love Resident Evil games too, but for me, the movie which game closest to the game was "Land of the Dead". The zombies should have been that way! Nemesis looked stunning though :)

I thought the picture was good in the night scenes, and very good in the better lit scenes. The audio was amazing though. That final battle was some of the most eveloping surround sound I've ever heard. Worth the buy if you enjoy the movie.

I found the quality on RE:A to be pretty good too.. maybe not reference on video.. but the sound was fantastic.

Yeah, I'd put the PCM track right up there with Black Hawk Down.

The PCM track is ridiculous. I was sitting there eating a box of whoppers and I literally felt the sound waves hitting and vibrating the candy. Nemesis's chaingun blew my house up.

PQ for me was above average, worth the upgrade if you like the movie.

Loved it.

This movie is where the series turned ugly. Not as bad as Extinction but its pretty pathetic in its own right. I mean, the Alice vs Nemesis sequence alone doesn't make sense with regards to it being a Resident Evil movie. More like Mortal Kombat than anything. It's sad really. They took the games and made the movie into a completely different genre. Survival horror into generic, mindless action.
