Hello All,

I just bought the 3806 but having difficulty setting it up...

I am not getting any AUDIO through my Receiver... BUT can get Audio through TV. I understand I am suppose to set as follows:??

Video Set up --> HDMI In Assign --> DVD to HDMI-1 and HDMI Audio to "AMP" for receiving sound though AMP... it says NO SIGNAL

when i play I get a HIGH PITCH sound from the speakers...

My connection is:

DVD HDMI OUT to Receiver HDMI-1 IN
Receiver HDMI OUT to my Pioneer Plasma Receiver HDMI IN

I didnt connect anything else to the receiver (ONLY DVD)

I dont know what else to do... I am stuck..

But... I thought with HDMI you get Dolby Digital/ DTS/ etc.. all audio + video and need no other cable??? All in one cable solution??

Thx

Well, do you want to say you always get what you're promised?
Besides, it might help to isolate the problem. Maybe your problem has nothing to do with HDMI: receiver might be at fault, DVD player or configuration.
In any case I would try to contact Denon first.

ummm....yes. When HDMI promises audio pass through.

I have read a lot about this in another area of the site:

There are problems with some receivers passing through the audio, especially to the rear speakers.

I am still tring to figure it out myself - but yah, the beauty of HDMI is to get everything in one cable, so why would you run it through another cable if you didn;t need to (although that is one solution).

The 3806 has no problem processing HDMI Audio from a compliant HDMI source. You do have to get up to speed on how to set up the 3806 and or the DVD source. You should also state what brand/model DVD y ou are connecting. I have a 3806 and experience no problems she connecting a Sony BD-p1000, Sony 400 disk changer or a Directv HD PVR.
