Is there anyway to disable the beep sound when you press the buttons on URC remotes?

Yes generally you can.
On my MX-900, you press and hold the WATCH button AND the ENTER button until the menu screen comes up and then navigate from there to the SOUND section where you can turn the volume all the way down to zero.
