i just got a Yamaha RX797 Receiver and a pair of Polk LSi15 speakers. i need a CD player and wanted to keep the line with Yamaha. The Receiver has only analog inputs, but it is supposed to handle a wide frequency range on CD direct mode (10Hz-100KHz). can i take advantage of the SACD clarity and extended frequency range if i connect via analog connectors or should i go with a standard CD/DVD palyer?
thanks---

With a few exceptions, SACD can only be output using analog.

yea that said any AVR can take SACD analog inputs so i'm sure it'll be fine for you too :)
you might want to use good ICs between the SACDP and the AVR , but that's another topic
thanks.
on that "other topic",
i guess that the basic monster cable 100 IC (1 m) that i have wont cut it?
i should go with the 300 or 400 series cable?

I have 400 series cable And I couldnt be happier ! SACD or DVD-audio no problems
I tried the yamaha 797 and this is an amazing amp!
You'll be lucky to find a better amplifier onder twice the price of the yamaha!
Cal - thanks, i'll save the cents and use the 100's. we'll leave the premium stuff for later.
Piquit - you are right about the amp. i had a sony ES for over a decade. i loved it and i feared that all the new products would offer only a slight improvement in sound and sacrifice the elegant simplicity of old receivers. i was wrong on both thoughts. the CD direct mode + 4ohm out into the LSi15s is surprising. this simple audio-only system truly sounds like something pro.
