Been stuck between the Samsung 7178W model...or the JVC FN70 model...or the Mits 65831 model. Just not sure what to get. Been to BB and CC to view. But not very good material at the stores.

Just can't decide...would really like HDMI 1.3 HDTV..but most seem to think it doesn't matter now...but what about in a year??

Samsung is bright with good color..but so many issues with LE and bulbs.
JVC is not as bright but haven't heard to many bad things about it.
Mits 831 got good reviews..but is somewhat higher price then the 70" models.

Opinions and comments on each is welcome and much needed.
Also, a good place to get any of these sets at a good price with good return policy , from all who have bought any of these TV's online is needed.

Thanks, Scott

They all have the same issues with bulbs and light engines. They are all excellent sets (Sony SXRD as well), and it just comes down to personal preferences. I don't think any display currently has HDMI 1.3.

Latest issue of Home Theater ranked 1080p RPTV sets in this order:

Samsung HLS-6188W
JVC HD-61FN97
Toshiba 62MX196
Sony KDS-R60XBR2
Mitsubishi WD-65731
Olevia 565H

Biggest knock against the Sammy is how bright it is without an iris adjustment. If you watch a lot of movies in a dark or semi-dark room, then go with the JVC.

Interestingly, the Mitsubishi model evaluated was not the top ot the line model. In my personal review of these items, I like the Sony and the Mits better, because I think they render detail better than the Samsung and others. I think the knock on the Mits is color accuracy, but it's not like the color accuracy is very far off.

You can get the 65732 Mits for 2400 if you look around and it will yield the best picture of all the dlp's mentioned in this threadd with proper adjusting on the set. It has every bit of the quality of my Panasonic 50" PDP and even better on HD or 1080P playback. Mitsubishi has always made the best big screens imo, but you have to do your homework on which model to buy :D
