Did anyone see this at CES 2007? It uses a new type of bulb which has no filament and will last the life of the set. The bulb is smaller and more energy efficient, as well as cheaper to manufacture than a regular bulb. Panasonic is targeting a May availability date.

They are starting to show up now on the panasonic.com "consumer products" store front now. Has anyone seen these anywhere yet?

Look at the list of recent threads. This has been discussed. From what I gather, the bulbs are durable but unfortunately less efficient than present lighting sources, not more. But any new technology is worth investigating.

I'll assume the silence means that nobody has seen one in person yet...
If anyone happens to spot one in the store, please let us know!
I, for one, am looking forward to longer bulb life! I just hope they look good too.

I noticed on their website they say "5-Year Warranty on Light Source"! That's pretty impressive.
