Hi all,

I'm doing a project around delivering IPTV across broadband, and am trying to test different bitrates. I have plenty of content that is MPEG-2 encoded/compresses from 3Mbps to 25 Mbps.

I need a higher bit rate stream (TS), something in the neighborhood of 80Mbps, like MPEG-2 MP@HL. I cannot find any content on the net that is near that. I got hooked up to this forum and found some raw HDV files (m2t), but the stream bitrate seems to be maxed out at 25Mbps for everything I've found.

I know the filesize will be huge, and I dont need but a 15 second clip that I can loop. Anyone point me to some content? Or RAW 1080i content (like HD-SDI) that I can compress down myself to 80Mbps?

Thanks,
El Pollo Loco

You're in luck! Sveriges Television AB (Swedish television broadcaster) has produced high-resolution test sequences which are available for free:
ftp://vqeg.its.bldrdoc.gov/HDTV/SVT_MultiFormat/

The sequences are scanned into digital format from 50fps 65mm film. Each frame is 3840 by 2160 pixels at 48 bits per pixel with 4:4:4 color sampling. The clips are stored in uncompressed SGI format one file per frame, which means you have to assemble them yourself. There's a free program called sgi2yuv that converts individual frames into raw YUV streams.

You can generate anything from 1080p60 to interlaced standard definition from the sequences easily. Since the sequences are sourced from film, they emulate real-life film masters well.

If you want something without film grain, you can download the losslessly compressed film master of Elephants Dream (1920x1080 24fps) here:

edit: the SVT sequences are ~20 gigabits/s :P
