Circuit City is selling a Mitsubishi 65" 1080p DLP as a CC 'exclusive' model (number WD-Y65). Do any forum members know which standard Mits model this is the same as (or perhaps missing a feature or two)? The CC listing is at: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Mitsubishi-65-DLP-Projection-HDTV-WD-Y65/sem/rpsm/oid/156666/catOid/-12867/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

I have also been trying to find that out. I read somewhere, sorry I have been on so many boards trying to make my decision that I can not find it again, that it is similar to the wd-65732, but have not found anything that corroborates that.

I could not find anything using the search feature.

Hopefully it has already been discussed here and someone will point us in the right direction.

I am trying to decide between the 65731, 65732, Y65 and 65831.

Just found this in the 2007 mits 65-732......topic

"The "Y" models at Circuit City do not have the Dark Detailer or Deep Field Imager features, so the blacks and overall contrast are not going to be as good as the 732 series. The "Y" models do have a few of the 732 features but as far as picture quality goes, they're apparently about the same as the 731 series'

Thanks for the info. I did see from the Home Theater magazine, Feb. 2007, test on the Mits 65731 that it has a really poor full screen constrast ratio of 777:1. Other 1080p DLPs in the same shootout had numbers ranging from approx. 3000:1 to 5000:1. The Mits had very high black levels that caused the poor CR results. I don't know if the Mits 65732 is also underperforming in CR or if it is more competative with the other 1080p DLPs.

Was hoping to read that the "Y" series was as good as the 732. But, sounds like its more like the 731. Is this confirmed?
