I've read a few threads about firmware updates and problems with the PS3, but I am yet to find anyone with the same problem I am having. I have been playing BD movies in my PS3 without having a single problem since I purchased it back in November. Everything changed after I upgraded to firmware 1.50. When I play BD movies it freezes for about 10 seconds and then it starts playing again. So far it has done the same thing with Crank, Invincible, and Employee of the Month. I watch Crank on my PS3 3 times before I upgraded the firmware and it never gave me any problems, but since I upgraded it has been freezing a lot. Anyone experiencing this? :confused:

I only have this problem if the rental disks are scratched...never had a problem with scratch free disks.

Sounds like it might be a defective unit, or possibly heat problems.

Mine just started doing this as well. The last 3 BD's I have watched it has done it: Crank, Swordfish, and Italian Job. It had never froze prior to the 1.5 update.

I doubt it could be heat issues because for all 3 of these it was fairly cold inside and the console is on top of a counter top with plenty of space on all sides, standing vertical.

I have had mine since Launch.

2 freezes. on second firmware update. then updated to 1.5 since then no problems. watched over 50 BD's. np.

I've already read posts from other PS3 messageboards which seems to indicate a larger problem. Hopefully Sony can fix this with the next update. Update 1.6 maybe?
