I just unplugged a component cable from a 12 year old tv. Couldn't twist phono plug on one of the three and it broke when I pulled it out. So I am thinking what is the advisability of using dielectric grease to make future connections to TV's, receivers, computers, etc. I assume the issue is one of oxidation. What other "lube" options are there? Dielectric grease, as you probably know, does not conduct electricity.

I would not put dielectric grease on my connectors.

While I have never used the stuff myself, I've seen some discussions of products by Caig Laboratories (http://www.caig.com/) for cleaning and maintaining plugs, contacts, potentiometers, etc.

If you Google "contact enhancer" and or "contact cleaner" you will get multitudes of other things to look at too.
