View Full Version : Digital Antenna setup help densma 01-28-07, 09:38 PM i bought Antenna RCA indoor HDTV but no luck setting up in LC-37D6U I see no signal strength at all any ideal? m_vanmeter 01-28-07, 09:44 PM it would help if you post your ZIP code so those responding can help based on your location. More info about your setup would help.....single family home, apartment, condo ??? Can you mount an external antenna or an antenna in an attic ? There are few things in the world of TV more problematic than over-the-air antennas and reception - far too many variables. PS: there really is no such thing as a "digital antenna" - that's marketing hype. ANY antenna made to receive television signals will receive the digital broadcasts. densma 01-29-07, 06:37 AM Thanks 30022 zip/Alparetta, GA and i couldnt get no satelite signal in the apt when i tried to setup my dish m_vanmeter 01-29-07, 11:11 AM go to www.antennaweb.org and put in your full address. When the results come up, click on the button for digital stations only to sort out the analog broadcasters. Most of your local stations are about 20 miles out and at 198 to 203 degrees on a compass bearing. With the exception of a NBC and PBS station (VHF channels 10 and 12), they are all using UHF signals on their digital frequencies (often very different from their old analog channel numbers). If you happen to have a south facing window or balcony at your apartment, you will be OK with a Zenith Silver Sensor indoor antenna (try www.amazon.com for one or you might get lucky with a local retailer). If you are on the north side of the building you may have considerable problems getting these signals without an outdoor mounted antenna. densma 01-30-07, 06:48 PM too bad i cant pick up any digital channels. Sharp say could be bad area reception or maybe my TV is bad that i should try the antenna with another tv to see if i receive anything. m_vanmeter 01-31-07, 09:56 AM so, you tried one questionable quality indoor antenna, and that's it ! The signals are there, 20 miles to the broadcasters is not an extreme distance. But what the heck, you can always spend $30 to $50 a month for the privilage of using satellite or cable Rick0725 01-31-07, 10:02 AM did you change the setting in the setup menu to cable off. most tvs come with that setting set to cable on as default. bwam 01-31-07, 11:24 AM Thanks 30022 zip/Alparetta, GA and i couldnt get no satelite signal in the apt when i tried to setup my dish I live in Cumming, 30 miles away from the Atlanta broadcast towers and get most of the channels (80% signal strength). Alpharetta is nearer by 5-10 miles. All your stations show yellow whereas mine show blue at Antennaweb.org so you are well within range. Also my antennas face 209 degrees - in your case it's 202 southwest. Any tall buildings as obstructions blocking things from that angle to your apartment? I helped someone in Alpharetta put in a Channel Master 4228 antenna in his attic and he gets 95-100% signal strength on all channels. |
