Hey All, ran into a problem tonight configuring my home theater. I have my DirecTV HD receiver wired to my Panasonic TH-58PX600U televsion with an HDMI cable. When I go into the audio setup for my DirecTV, I turn on Dolby Digital. When I select the Digital Output to be PCM, I get sound for all my TV channels. When I select the Digital Output to be Dolby Digital, I don't get any sound for my HD channels, but I get sound for all my non-HD channels.
What gives?

Your TV can't process a DD signal with more then 2 channels. Most HDMI chipsets in TVs are designed to only process two channels of audio since you only have two speakers. If you are going direct to the TV, just leave it on PCM.

Thanks for clearing that up. I figured this might be the case. When my optical cable gets here, I'll be using that. I had originally planned to run the optical cable from my TV to the receiver. Should I connect that directly from the DirecTV receiver to the A/V receiver instead? Or does it matter?
