okay, here's the deal. after ripping my entire cd collection to flac and getting a slim devices transporter to stream the music over my lan, i have been enjoying music immensly. i have a similar idea to do this with my dvd collection. rip it onto a nas, have it over my lan, and get a streamer to output it to my tv. however, recently seeing the denon 3930 has me really confused. i like the denon in every way, except the fact that all dvd's are not at your fingertips. i was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations on my dilemma. what would be my best options? is it possible for the streamer to output a 480i signal and then have an external scaler do the work and still provide me the best of both worlds?

Kaleidescape(?) is the (figuratively speaking) million dollar answer. :) Someone else came out with a cheaper, packaged, solution. For a roll you own type thing I would think there is a SDI card for a PC. Or for less precise video you could use the PC to display the video also. Having the PC stream the video via SDI to an external processor would be way cool. That might be something I'd even consider doing. :)

yeah, that scaler looks like a really nice peace. i know there are many options for scalers but few for streamers that can actually output a 480i signal. can sdi be added to any piece of electronics, from say any modder???
