I recently installed HD1000u , other supporting equipment are:
1. Optima 106" manual screen, as expected 1.8 gain seems to be lost when ceiling mounted, but what Optima has done here is to sell a screen that is competitive to DIY ones.
2. Onkyo 504, using Hometech speakers for start
3. Oppo 971
4. HSU research subwoofer VTF2-MK2, Need to tweak this in coming weeks, but whatever it is out of box, can vibrate your whole house.
I have completed the install and picture is fantastic (will post pics soon), the mounting of the projector was most challenging as the ceiling is vaulted and about 13 ft high, I found this as a blessing when install was complete. Currently projector is about 9 ft high, I will adjust height (+, -) in coming weeks will post results. The projector is located 13.5" ft from the screen.
The screen is installed 2.5 ft from carpet, with 2 inch borders.
I did see HD1000u colors washed out in some cases, but its not calibrated yet, will post the results.
My room has 3 windows on two sides, with curtains on, and projector at full brightness was ok to watch tv.
thanks to avsforum, I could not have done this without your help...
