I noticed a few 19-inch HDTV sets on the markets. They range from no names to Samsung. The resolutions are 1400 x 900 (if I remember correctly). I think they accept component inputs. Are they compatible with Scientific Atlanta HD boxes and the upconverting DVD players at 720p/1080i? Has anyone plug the devices in to try?

You'd probably have better results asking about displays in the display forums. As long as the sets have the proper inputs, they should have no issues being used with STB's and DVD players.

Unlikely you'll see any HDTV sets below 25" for a couple of months. You might have some monitors in that size (in which case you just need to check that they'll accept a 720p/1080i signal), but not TVs.

In theory there's just one month left!!! :D

You'll have to use one of those Fresnel lenses to appreciate them.
