I have the Denon 2200 Universal player. I am trying to figure out how to configure the settings so that a 5.1 movie will play all channels out of the L/R rca outs. Here is the reason. I have the rca outs going into my receiver for hirez audio. There is a second set of L/R outputs that I use to go into my headphone amp. This works great for music, but when I watch a movie, if there is a dedicated LFE, I won't hear it.

Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks
Greg

I don't know what LFE stands for, but all 5.1 channels should be down-mixed automatically to the dedicated 2-channel analog outs.

LFE is Low Frequency Effects.
You can have my 2200 later this week when I receive my Oppo. My 2200, More often than not, its "No Play" rather than play.

Maybe I am using the wrong terminology. I mean the .1 channel. I would have thought what you are saying would make sense. I will give you one example. In Jurrasic Park 3 (I know, terrible movie, but it is just an example). In the opening 10 seconds, there is the T-Rex footstep that makes the screen vibrate. I am hearing nothing at all. When I plug my headphones into my receiver, it is there.

I believe I am doing things correctly, because if I don't switch my menu settings from mutichannel to two channel, I don't get any dialogue, and when I switch the setting, the center channel voices are there.

When you are saying down-mixed, are you referring the change made in the DVD menu to the 2 channel mix, or do you mean making the change in the DVD player menu and watching the 5.1 mix on the DVD. The reason I ask, is that some movies don't have a two channel mix on the dvd.

Thanks for your help so far, and any additional thoughts would be great.
