Why doesn't Best Buy do any kind of blu ray/hd dvd release day special pricing?
I go to Best Buy EVERY tuesday to pick up the new releases for the week. The only special pricing I have ever seen was for X Men the last stand ($21.99 by the way which was a great deal).

Now I order everything from Amazon. I would still rather pick it up locally, but I am not going to pay $34.99-39.99 for a fox title. They still have some HD DVD combos at 39.99!

This really isn't any different than the early days of DVD. I remember that most people ordered online because they could get much better deals. Big retailers didn't discount DVD at all until it became more popular and mainstream.

Now retailers like Best Buy and Circuit City discount DVD titles in their first week of release because that will pull people into their stores. Taking a loss on a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD title won't pull that much extra traffic into the store so they probably don't consider it worthwhile at the moment.

I agree, I remember the days of the $25 average priced DVD. I was an early adopter.

But with amazon, buy.com and other online retailers, you would think best buy would at least stay in the ball park.

I do not buy any HD formats at BB. They are just to expensive!

I got Open Season and Saw III for 29.95 this weekend. That isn't retail. It didn't have a special sticker on it. I thought at first it was regular price.
