Help me out.
We are all being told that HDMI is the one cable solution for all of our High Definition needs, but it appears to me that I need two(2) HDMI cables - one from the source to my amp/rcvr and another one from my amp/rcvr to my video display.
Am I missing something?

How do you expect to connect three devices with one physical cable?
One-cable-solution means that all video and audio are sent over one cable as opposed to, e.g., component video (3 cables) and stereo(2 cables) between each pair of devices.

I don't even believe it. That had to be a joke right?
I am serious as a heartbeat.
Old set-up - 3 component cables to video display + 1 coax or toslink to amp/rvcr.
New set-up - 2 HDMI cables at a significantly higher price.
Yes, it's 2 fewer cables, but based on all of the questions (and the need for it's own forum), it doesn't seem to have simplified things, just added expense.

HDMI cables should be dirt cheap (check monoprice, for example). It's a digital connection, so it either works or it doesn't. Don't buy the Monster cables from Best Buy for $150 or whatever.

Even more: I don't know what means old and new setups besides cables, but depending on capabilities of your source, receiver and display you might not gain anything in terms of quality of your video and audio. Actually, I'm pretty sure you've gained nothing in audio.

That's why my early adapter days are over. I'll have to upgrade video & amp/rcvr in order to utlize the 1 cable solution. Old refers to my current set-up, new is with HDMI capable equipment.
I'm not sure I'll see a step change worth the expense.

I was at Best Buy today and I overheard a blueshirt trying to sell a Monster 25ft HDMI cable for $199.00. He was talking about how Monster is the best and the shielding of the cable only Monster has and blah blah blah. I also heard another saleswomen tell another couple if you by a HDTV you should get Monster cables and accessories because it's like putting a Hyndai spark plug into a Mercedes WTF is that all about.
