Ok guys so i'am now at the point in my calibration where i'm trying to "center" my screen and i'm running into a few issues. I have been using Get Gray mostly to check for overscan & just when i think i have it perfect, i pop in a dvd and notice that the bottom of my srceen is underscanning a bit. I have about a 1/4" black showing at the bottom of the screen. I go back & retouch my Vertical Size & Position in my service menu, pop in the dvd and it's perfect. Now, i'll put in another movie & notice that it is off again! I'm guessing that not every movie is "mastered" the same. What is my best bet here? I do not want to adjust Sizing & Positioning to a point where i start introducing Picture abnormalities.

Thanks so much for the continued guidance guys!
Carmine.

Greetings

So what does cable tV look like? Are you seeing all the picture all the time?

Some 1.85:1 films are hard matted for DVD. They actually have black bars ... and are not just "opened up" for 16:9.

The film "Bring It On" is one such film ... for example.

Trust the test pattern for centering and realize that some films have black bars and might not be centered correctly as well.
