I am mounting a flat panel TV over a fireplace and the components will be located in a closet in an adjacent room. I will be placing a new outlet over the fireplace to power the TV. How would you recommend that I surge protect the TV? All the components will share surgeprotection in the closet, but the power cord for the TV wont reach the surgeprotector in the closet. I imagine the TV will need to be plugged into some sort of surge protector which is mounted on the wall behind the TV and then plugged into the new outlet.
I have seen a few products but they were "expensive", around $300 for some "Monster" "Panamax" type surge protection and power conditioning device at Tweeter.
I am open to solutions of all types and expense. I know surge protection and power conditioning can be a controversial topic around here but I am just looking for some options to choose from. This is my first Home theater and I am learning much of this technology as I go. The theater is composed of an Onkyo 894 TIB and I am still shopping for the TV. (If you want to suggest a 50+inch flat panel that could be considered a bargain I am open to that as well. I would like to keep the TV under $3K but over 50in)
Thanks!
*I found the thread "How do you provide surge protection for a wall mounted plamsa/lcd? - CarbonCrew " But if anyone has additional info I'd appreciate it.
