I've done a search and yielded no results on this topic.
I don't know if some of you know this. I just confirmed with Mastercard today that if you put a TV purchase on your Mastercard in full you will get an extended warranty UP TO A YEAR if:
1) a 1 year or LESS original manufacture warranty is included with the tv.
2) did not buy the "in-store" extended warranty.
So i bought a Pioneer 5070HD and paid on my Mastercard almost a month ago. It comes with a full 1 year original mfg warranty. After that 1 year Mastercard will COVER any service/repairs up to a full year that do not exceed the original purchase amount. Unlike some big box stores that contracts 3rd party "technicians" to repair your tv Mastercard simply relies on YOU to call your original manufacturer and setup a repair/service. Once you get that bill you just send copies to Mastercard and they will re-imburse you the amount.
Same goes with alot of other purchases on Mastercard. Some things are excluded so you would need to call and find out, but TV's are definately covered. I've heard Amex does this too, but have not confirmed.
I've also called Pioneer and they acknowledge they get alot of these types of calls and questions.
