Any comments i have a Denon 2807, is the 2807 Audussey setup as good as the Avia with SPL meter?

I am curious as well. I have an SPL meter and avia disk but there is no 7.1 configuration on the AVIA. how do you guys go about configuring your 7.1 speakers when manually calibrating with AVIA? I am also buying a 2807 in 2 weeks.

Why not both the 2807 and an SPL meter?

I always do an automatic calibration using Audyssey and then fine tune with an SPL meter. Oh, and sometimes using a ruler, as the distances are not always spot on. Audyssey's biggest usage for me is the eq of the different speakers. Level and distance I find to be a bit off at times.

Audyssey is not a speaker setup routine. The only thing that Audyssey does is RoomEQ. Do the Audyssey routine and you're free to use AVIA to change the speaker configs... the two processes coexist just fine.

Errr... well, it does include a speaker setup routine.

The Denon runs its own setup process before Audyssey. Speaker setup is not a part of Audyssey itself.

That is pretty incorrect, since crossover, polarity, delay and level are included in the Audyssey.Link (http://www.audyssey.com/multEQ_products.html)

The Audyssey setup is a choice between or in combination w/spl (if preferred on your own)
The auto w/mic does a DAMN good job of setting the basic parameters upon which you can tweak to your own desire. :D :D
