I've had an HC3 since December 16th, bought from Amazon

I just went to use it for the 1st time in a few weeks and there's white lines flickering on the screen and whatever's on there is unreadable. The lens "cap" doesn't open, if I put it in any mode it does the same. I've removed all power/battery, the tape, the memory card and pressed the reset button (and tried holding it for 30 seconds but it still does the same. (if I turn it off, the LCD or viewfinder stays on with the white lines but the onscreen icons go away, the only way to actually turn it off now is to remove the battery)

I went to amazon.co.uk and the standard returns section won't allow me to do anything as it's over 30 days and I can't phone as they're shut, as are Sony

can someone tell me who is best to ring?
Sony or Amazon? (I've never sent anything off to sony, like warranty card, does that matter?)

Does anyone know how long things like this take to fix?
I have my first child due in the next few weeks which is why I bought the camera!

here's an image of the LCD (it's the same on the viewfinder)

Sony is who you need to contact. Here in US you can logon to Sony's web page and fill out a service request. It takes a minute or two to complete the online service request. Then simply print out the form and send in the unit to their designated service center along with the original purchase receipt. It should also tell you the turnaround time. The online is usually the quickest if you are sure it needs to be sent in for repair. Good Luck.
