I need an HDMI cable that is 40 feet long.

Any suggestions on what brands will give me a quality cable that supports 1080p/1080i and 720p at that length.

I have looked at Ram Electronics HDMI cables (Standard HDMI-40 and Amplified HDMI-AMP-12M) and they seem good but a little pricey. I also looked at Monoprice's HDMI Cables ID# 2678 which are cheaper but I am not sure if they will support 1080p at that length even though the specs it says it will.

Any suggestions?

My setup has my equipment in a cabinet that is across the room from my 50" plasma

I currently have component cables that connect my HD box and DVD player to my Plasma TV.

I am thinking of getting either an Upconvert DVD or HD DVD player and as far as I can tell the only way to get the 720p/1080i or 1080/p is with the HDMI cables.

The component outputs on the Upconvert DVD players will only output 480p. I think the HD DVD players output up to 1080i on the components, but the Upconvert DVD players do not. Is this correct?

The other problem I have is that I prefer a changer than a single disc player and they are not available in HD DVD yet. The Upconvert DVD players do come in a changer version but you need an HDMI connection to take advantage of the higher resolutions.

Both types of DVD players do not satisfy all my needs, but if I use an HDMI cable I will have greater potential down the road.

All I need is to get the right HDMI cable that supports 720p/1080i and 1080p at a 40' length.

Monoprice reportedly has excellent customer service. Try their cable and return it if it doesn't work. Chances are it will work fine or they would not be carrying it.

Thanks for the reply.

What do you think about Blue Jeans Cables?

BJs are fine cables. Every AVS Forum Alliance member at the top of the page is a quality vendor.

The safest bet is to run two 20' runs and put a repeater/equalizer in the middle. However, if you're talking about 1080p/24, I wouldn't worry too much about it; a 24 AWG cable from BlueJeans or 22 AWG cable from Monoprice has a decent chance of working well.
