I just purchased a Sony KDF-55E2000 HDTV.
I am thinking I ought to consider upgrading my DVD player. Its and old Pioneer DV-525. I am pretty sure it is not even progressive scan.
What should I be looking for and what kind of improvement should I expect.
My old Tv was a Sony 36" CRT. It didnt even have component inputs.
Thanks

I've got a 525 also running components out of it, but I don't think its a progressive scan player. Be careful buying the cheap upconverting players as I've now returned two because they looked worse than my old 525. They were Samsung 860, and a new Sony.

I’m also running Pioneer DV-525 nice little beauty she is, picked it for £45.00 pounds 2 or 3 years ago. Image and sound playback is superfine I use RGB output and I’m very pleased with its video output to the CRT screen.
I have progressive scan Cello DR-810 DVD-RW thou I haven’t used it with progressive scan as the CRT doesn’t support that feature but its great for recording laserdiscs and as back-up DVD player because Ben-Hur gets stuck with pixel issues of freezing on the Pioneer DV-525 same thing with Escape From New York the main menu locks-up and therefore I have to use the Cello DR-810, but most of the time, I’m using the Pioneer DV-525 even with playback of DVD-RW discs.
