hey guys,

am wanting some assistance in trying to identify what my issue is with the mg-35, I have numerous proper movies in AVI that are playing without any issues. BUT I have over 1300 small AVI movies that have been taken with a Canon S30 digital camera, it uses AVI as default and they are all 30seconds or less. the mg-35 isnt able to play these AVI files, which is very depressing, as they are all of our children and the main reason for having the mg-35.....

an example of the file descr is as follows for the files..

===== File Info =====
FileSize : 3M
PlayTime : 00:00:14.666
VideoCount : 1
AudioCount : 1
===== Video Info =====
Video 0# Stream
VideoCodec : MJPG
VideoWidth : 320 piexs
VideoHeight : 240 piexs
VideoFrameRate : 15fps
VideoFrameCount : 220
VideoBitRate : 1801101
===== Audio Info =====
Audio 0# Stream
AudioCodec : PCM
AudioBitRate : 88192
AudioChannels : 1
AudioSampleRate : 11024

AVI is just a container, whose contents could have been encoded via any number of codecs.

In your case, the video appears to be encoded with a Motion JPEG codec. Since that isn't supported by the player, you need to transcode (decode then re-encode) with a codec supported by the player.

thanks, can anyone advise what my best option is for this smallish movies that are by default 320x240 ? into different avi codec, divx etc ??

I want to keep them all as best quality as i can get from them

does the mg35 play any of the formats better than the others ??

Get VirtualDUB (it's free) and either DivX or xvid. The MG35 works well with both these codecs. Also, MJPEG is actually quite big, you're files should be smaller after transcoding them to DivX/xvid.
