Directv HD DVR hooked up yesterday and.... last night it really blew me away. Well, after I figured out that my Sammy DLP has only 480i / p on component 1 input, I switched the cables to component 2 which handles them all except 1080p, wow! Then I realized that my Harmon Kardon DVD25 dvd player has been in that 480i/p setting for three years! So I plugged it into component 3 and played a bit of Close Encounters of a Third Kind this morning before work and noticed a substantial difference! Now I will play all of my DVDs over again :)
Anyway, there is supposed to be a question in here about DVE calibration and here it is. I've used the DVE dvd (latest edition) on the component 1 inputs. Now, I gather that to calibrate the component 2 & 3 inputs all I have to do is to swap the DVD output cables to each input, calibrate and move on. However, when the new HDMI to DVI cable arrives tomorrow I will have output from my Directv HD DVR through the HDMI to the DVI on the Sammy... How do I use the DVD to calibrate that DVI input????
